Blackberry and Apple not working funny film

For some people the BlackBerry or Apple is working very nicely, but we shouldn't forget those who have trouble with them, for example the comedians Ronnie Corbett and Harry Enfield had some issues.
Some jokes are pretty obvious, but overall this is a funny 3min video:

LG Optimus 2X (aka Star) official with 1080p video recording

LG Optimus 2X features dual-core Tegra 2 at 1GHz and Full HD (1080p) video playback and recording with the help of NVIDIA SoC via LG's 8MP Camera

The device will be the first Tegra2 - powered GSM smartphone. The HDMI port on the Optimus 2X can output Full HD video (unlike current phones, which are limited to 720p) and with DLNA support you can play videos on a compliant TV with no need for a cable.

Other confirmed specs :
4" WVGA screen;
secondary 1.3MP video-call camera;
8 gigs worth of storage;
1,500mAh battery.

Our main concern is the Tegra 2 's power-hunger, but we're sure LG had that in mind, they are well known for power efficiency.

On a side note, we really don't know what to think anymore, LG's history shows many ups and downs, whenever they have a breakthrough, they seem to be unable to keep up with their competitors. Let's hope that another year after this won't have to pass in order for them to make another great handset.

The LG Optimus 2X will be launching next month in South Korea

iPhone brings your very own virtual girlfriend

They say you can use Apple's iPhone for anything, but we really never thought about this .Korean developer Nabix released the " Honey, it's me" iPhone app that apparently will solve men's girlfriend problems. For just $1.99, Korean-speaking iPhone users can now brag about having a cool girlfriend who will video call them 4 times a day with over 100 phrases like "Hello" , "Good night , sweet dreams", etc.

Your new virtual girlfriend is a 20 -something "Mina" and she will make you feel needed in this dark, cruel world. This is no joking manner, the app has been downloaded 80,000 times on the first day.

Nabix plans to release a version for Android too and in other languages such as Japanese (nothing mentioned about English).

Google Latitude in App Store for good

 After a brief appearance on the Japanese App Store a few days ago, the app is now officially out on Apple's App Store which means your mom /dad /spouse / kids will always know where you are. You could even start stalking your ex-es or future-es... or whoever you want !

For those of you who don't know what is this Google Latitude - this app puts you and your friends on the map so you know where to find them at all times. It runs in the background, not needing to keep the app open or phone unlocked.

Of course you can limit your location updates to city level, hide it or completely turn it off.

Too bad that the minimum requirements are hard to meet: iOS 4 , iPhone 3GS or iPhone 4.

Sphero Ball, an AR Drone alternative

Don't have the budget or airspace for an AR Drone ? Get a Sphero !

Sphero is a small, robotic toy ball designed by Orbotix, and controlled remotely via Bluetooth and your phone's tilt sensor.

It's practically a ball that rolls by itself, sure the thing is pretty simple and sounds boring but after smartphone developers get ahold of the open API we'll see much augmented reality gameplay headed our way.

Here's a small video of the prototype:

Let us know what you guys think in the Comment Section below.

HTC Evo 4G guest star in Fringe

Seems that the HTC Evo 4G is becoming quite the actor, in the last episode of Fringe, The star enjoyed almost 20 seconds of air time, not bad so early in his career.

At least we don't need to find a Wi-Fi connection, Astird

The 4G enabled handset was joined by the Qik application and the phone's front camera to let people see the video chat capabilities of the HTC phone. Astrid Farnsworth gave intel to Peter Bishop via the Qik application. If they had the Apple's iPhone, a Wi-Fi connection would have been necessary , since the Face Time feature requires it.

so.... In your face, Dr. House !

"If you could reason with religious people, there wouldn't be any religious people"

Google Maps 5 with 3D view and offline mode

Google Maps for Mobile 5 came out with a preview, from which we found out we are about to see major improvements like 3D view, offline mode and new multitouch options.

Graphics engine now uses vector graphics, bringing in many advantages. Maps are not pre-rendered pictures anymore but are rendered on the phone itself, makeweight the application run very smoothly. 3D buildings is supported for over a hundred major cities.
Vector pictures are more data efficient (download faster and make cache easier). Google Maps Navigation will be able to reroute you, but you'd still need a data connection to rerouting.

The new multitouch features enhance the 3D mode, letting you tilt and rotate the view. For this you'll need some additional hardware support that is not in all multitouch  phones.

Google Nexus S announced

The Google Nexus S is finally official, Andy Rubin, Google VP of Engineering and head of Android, announced the Google Nexus S (and Gingerbread) on the company's official blog.

Here are some important details:
  • Manufactured by Samsung;
  • Will be available on Dec 16 (in the U.S.) and Dec 20 (in the U.K.);

Most rumors about the Google Nexus S are true: curved screen (which will be called "Contour Display"), the screen will use Super AMOLED technology and measure 4 inches at WVGA resolution.

Motorola DROID 2 exploded and injured a man

Aron Embry , a man from North Texas was just finishing a call on his brand new Motorola DROID 2 when the phone exploded leaving the man injured and bleeding. He said he heard a loud “pop” and then noticed that he started bleedin. He received four stitches, and was told that he wouldn't have any hearing problems.

“Once I got to the mirror and saw it, it was only then I kind of looked at my phone and realized that the screen had appeared to burst outward," he said. The handset, however, remained functional and with only a shattered glass near the speaker.

This was enough for Motorola to release an official statement :
“Motorola’s priority is, and always has been the safety of our customers, and all Motorola products are designed, manufactured and tested to meet or exceed international and local standards for consumer safety. We will reach out to the consumer and investigate this thoroughly.”

Exploding phones are a rare occasion, but they do happen, and some of them have been fatal.

Specifications of Motorola Droid 2 can be found here.
You guys think that man should receive compensation from Motorola and Verizon ?

Apple iPhone - Obsession of the year

Apple's mobile products were named the number 1 and number 3 obsession of 2010, the Apple iPhone 4 was listed by Yahoo as the number 1 obsession of the year.

It certainly was a strange year for Apple's new iPhone 4. After getting launched , the phone was caught up in the "Antennagate" or "Deathgrip" scandal. Although facing these problems, handset has done very well at the cash register. By October, year-over-year sales were up 91% with 14.1 million units sold.

The Apple iPad was listed as the number three obsession of 2010 and the popularity of the tablet helped set off a craze for tablet-like devices like the Samsung Galaxy Tab.
What do you guys think? Does the iPhone deserve to be number 1 one obsession of the year 2010 ?
What should be added to the list ?
