Sphero Ball, an AR Drone alternative

Don't have the budget or airspace for an AR Drone ? Get a Sphero !

Sphero is a small, robotic toy ball designed by Orbotix, and controlled remotely via Bluetooth and your phone's tilt sensor.

It's practically a ball that rolls by itself, sure the thing is pretty simple and sounds boring but after smartphone developers get ahold of the open API we'll see much augmented reality gameplay headed our way.

Here's a small video of the prototype:

Hehe great invention, although the speed it's rolling is a bit low.

Still looks like great fun!

Wow that is pretty impressive, wonder what they could use it for, possibly motion cap for gaming?

This is great. I almost posted something about this yesterday! Might not be that useful yet but it's sure going to expand to much more useful stuff!

This looks sweet. If I had a phone... I would think about getting one of these just to play with.

Why are phone plans so expensive? An android would cost $60 a month and I don't have that kind of money.

the drone one was epic... this one is just silly... a ball does not suddenly become AWESOME because you can control it with your iPhone...

Dang, that's actually kind of cool. Kind of pointless as well, but still neat.
